The Windsor African Violet Society was organized in 1960 and is an affiliate of the African Violet Society of America Inc.

The object of our Society is to provide a forum for African violet enthusiasts to share their interest in the propagation and culture of the African violet and other gesneriads.

We promote membership in the African Violet Society of America (AVSA), our national organization, as well as other local educational African violet or gesneriad-oriented organizations.

Many of our members, officers, and judges often conduct educational workshops for local garden clubs and other organizations. Our membership frequently takes opportunities to share plants and knowledge with others and to actively promote the African violet and its cultivation. Over the years, our members have contributed to the AVM and other African violet and gesneriad publications.
